Biography

I began climbing in 2019 and immediately fell in love with the sport. Two years later I began competing and found a world wide community of other disabled climbers that stoked my passion for climbing even more. Since then I have represented Canada at multiple world cups and the world championships in 2023. I have been involved in organizing multiple events to promote paraclimbing in Canada because I want more people to discover the sport that changed my life. I am also the head route setter at the climbing gym in Vernon BC. Outside of climbing I work as an IT technician for a law office and enjoy cooking meals with my wife.

In their words

How did you get into climbing?

I started climbing on a whim after a friend of mine told me about the climbing gym in town. I simply showed up one day and fell in love with the movement and community that climbing had to offer. Two years later I discovered paraclimbing and fell even deeper in love with the sport and the community that came with it.

What do you enjoy doing outside of training?

Honestly between outdoor and competition climbing/training, involvement on committees, extra curricular promotion of paraclimbing through events and advocacy, climbing trips, routesetting, and my day job I never really turn it off. I am always thinking about climbing in one way or another. My time to relax and turn it off is making meals and hanging out with my wife in the evenings.

What drives you to compete and excel in climbing?

My drive comes from my desire to be a better version of myself everyday. And to prove that my limitation's are really my strengths. I want to prove to myself that I am capable of overcoming anything, even the barriers placed in front of me by my own birth. There is also something really addicting about standing on a podium.
