Biography

My name is Dylan Le and I am 20 years old. I’m from Montreal. Coming from gymnastic background, I always loved pushing my limits from a young age. I started climbing at the age of 9 when my parents won me a climbing tryout at a fair. I immediately fell in love with the sport and started competing in boulder, lead and speed. I trained and competed in all three disciplines until my last year in youth, becoming an 8x national champion over the years. However, I was best at speed climbing, breaking the canadian in every category up until junior and earning a Youth Worlds bronze medal in 2019. I am now a speed specialist competing on the World cup circuit. Beyond the wall, I am a full-time aerospace engineering student Polytechnique montreal.

In their words

How did you get into climbing?

I started gymnastics when I was 5 years old. Then, my parents won a climbing try out at a fair. I went and instantly loved it. I continued gymnastic while starting to pursue climbing more seriously. In my first year competing, at the yougest age category, I earned 8 gold medals out of 8 provincial competitions. It was then that i decided to quit gymnastic and focus solely on climbing.

What do you enjoy doing outside of training?

I love to try and learn many different things. I usually focus on a new hooby for a few weeks and then move on to something else, sometimes annoying my family with my constant new interests. So far, I've tried chess, parkour, piano, speaking vietnamese, figure skating, cooking and gardening.

What drives you to compete and excel in climbing?

I push myself for the sole reason that I like it. I love training, improving, and challenging myself. When I was younger, I loved to watch the Olympics and set myself the goal of participating one day. Now, I strive to become the national champion, set the canadian record and participate in the LA 2028 Olympic Games.
