In their words

How did you get into climbing?

Like most other kids, my exposure to climbing was from being invited to a birthday party. Then, it was the March Break camp, and then the after school program. And eventually hitting the climbing gym every single day. It has just become a part of my life and now I enjoy climbing all around the world.

What do you enjoy doing outside of training?

I go to kendo practice at the University of Waterloo Kendo Club when I have time, and I like playing video games such as Fire Emblem on the Nintendo DS. I also enjoy extracting caffeine from instant coffee (part of my lab) and studying organic chemistry and calculus (at the climbing gym).

What drives you to compete and excel in climbing?

My drive is to keep improving myself in climbing as much as I could. I would really like to be able to climb beautifully and do some cool climbing moves someday. Seeing all the climbers from all over the world climbing hard climbs motivates me to inch forward little by little.
