I’ve lived in Calgary, Alberta my entire life. My dad was a competitive climber and so I’ve been around the sport since I was very young. I’ve been climbing competitively for 7-8 years now! I have represented Canada in speed climbing at Youth Worlds in 2024 and attended my first World Cup in Chamonix last summer, and I plan to attend many more! I also compete in bouldering at the National and North American level. One day I would love to represent Canada for bouldering as well. I train on the Calgary Climbing Centre performance team as well as coach a competitive development team and the speed team. I am currently attending the University of Calgary for Biomechanics. With training, coaching and school my life is quite busy but that’s the way I like it!
My dad was a competitive climber and he works at the Calgary Climbing Centre as well. These two things meant I was kind of always around climbing. Even though I was always aware of climbing I wasn’t pressured to compete or even climb recreationally. As I got older I started to enjoy it more and I decided to try out competing. Since then my love for competing has only grown. I absolutely love testing my limits and seeing how far I can go. It definitely helps to have an amazing group of athletes to train with and dedicated coaches!
Outside of training most of my time is dedicated to school or coaching. I started coaching in grade 12 and was lucky to get to work with wonderful athletes! Every year the athletes I work with change slightly but it’s always the same dedicated, strong and motivated environment. I truly enjoy coaching almost as much as climbing. Outside of climbing entirely I do have some hobbies; I enjoy traveling, biking and hiking.
Personally, I find competing so fun, I enjoy every aspect of it, whether that’s being able to try new moves, challenge myself against others or simply race! I’m always excited and looking forward to my next competition! I strive to always feel like I’ve tried my hardest at every event I attend.
