Biography

The early part of my childhood was transformative. Due to my Mom’s international work, my brother and I were introduced to different cultures and lifestyles. We lived in places like Burkina Faso, Thailand, Senegal, and eventually Salt Lake City, where climbing took a turn for the better. Before moving to SLC at the age of 7, our previous climbing experience was in Thailand where our parents would drag us to the crag. I’ve lived most of my life in SLC, the people and environment there are responsible for most of my climbing achievements. Today I am living in Montreal, pursuing a career as an airline pilot as well as making it to the 2028 Olympic Games.

Achievements

  • My youth career maybe stands out the most in terms of achievements. I have 4 youth Nationals wins in the US, and 5 in Canada. At my first Youth World Championships, I made finals in both lead and boulder, finishing 4th in lead and 5th in boulder. I then started competing in open. I have made 6 semifinals in lead, and 2 in boulder. Highest finish being 15 in lead and 10 in boulder. I was also part of the OQS (olympic qualifier series) where I was unsuccessful in making it to the 2024 Paris Games. I have been Canada's top performing athlete on the World Cups for the last two years, and hope to build upon that.

In their words

How did you get into climbing?

Is it bad if I say my Mom forced me? I'm just kidding. But my Parents were a huge influence on my climbing. They got us into climbing at a young age and they have shown the utmost support during our entire careers as climbers. Climbing was always a constant in my life. No matter how much things shifted, climbing was always there.

What do you enjoy doing outside of training?

I have obsessions over hobbies, mainly sports. Living in Salt Lake City, it would be a shame to not take advantage of some of the best landscape and outdoor access in the world. If I had to rank my hobbies in order; mountain biking/building bikes, skiing/ski touring, flying planes, multi-pitch/trad climbing, photography, kitesurfing, hiking. These hobbies keep me grounded and give me something else to obsess over, rather than having climbing consume my life.

What drives you to compete and excel in climbing?

Striving for performance I've realized is a double edged sword. You create a relationship with performance that can often lead towards dependency of results to feel satisfied, important, or enough. But on the other edge of the blade it's what fuels your feeling of importance and purpose, which are the foundations of a meaningful life. One side leads you to feeling like you have everything, and the other side leads you feeling like you have nothing without that thing.
