To compete, coach or officiate at a CEC-sanctioned event, you need a CEC licence for the current season. Licences are sold on 2mev, CEC’s registration platform, where they’re listed as memberships.
Licences
- Athlete licence: required to compete in any CEC-sanctioned event, including national championships, national series and the North American Cup Series. It’s also required to earn national ranking points, to be selected for the National Team and to compete internationally.
- Coach licence: required to coach at any CEC-sanctioned event.
- Officials licence: required for all officials at CEC-sanctioned events, including judges and routesetting crews.
Licences are valid for one season, from September 1 to August 31. Current fees are listed on 2mev.
For North American Cup Series events, Canadian citizens and residents need either a CEC athlete licence or a one-time NACS licence for that event.
How to get your licence
- Use the Register button at the top of any page to go to CEC on 2mev.
- Create a free account, or sign in.
- Sign the CEC waiver, choose your licence and complete the purchase.
There’s no deadline to buy a licence, but you need it before you register for an event.
Registering for a competition
Once you have your licence and have qualified (see Qualification & Categories), register for each event on 2mev. Every event page links to its registration once it opens.
Provincial and territorial competitions
For provincial and territorial competitions, register with your provincial or territorial climbing organization. Membership there also gives you access to local events and rankings, and a vote on your local representatives.
