Concussion

How CEC recognizes, manages, and supports participants with a suspected concussion, and the tools to help.

Climbing Escalade Canada has developed the CEC Concussion Protocol to guide the management of participants who may have a suspected concussion from taking part in CEC activities.

Purpose

The protocol covers the recognition, medical diagnosis, and management of participants, coaches, and trainers who may sustain a suspected concussion during sport. It aims to make sure anyone with a suspected concussion gets timely, appropriate care, and returns to sport safely. It can’t cover every possible situation, but it includes the critical elements based on the latest evidence and expert consensus.

Who should use it

The protocol is for everyone who works with participants, in and outside school and organized sport: participants, parents, coaches, officials, teachers, trainers, and healthcare professionals.
