Climbing Escalade Canada (CEC) is seeking candidates for positions on the CEC board of directors.
The primary function of the CEC Board of Directors is to oversee the management of the CEC’s business and affairs. The CEC aims to establish and develop a board with a diverse skill set and a broad range of experience across various areas and professional sectors. Successful applicants will have a range of skills and experiences that may encompass areas such as not-for-profit organizations, provincial or national sports organizations, finance, law, accounting, risk management, corporate governance, marketing, fundraising, and information technology.
Members at-large
For the 2025–2026 term, CEC is seeking to appoint approximately five new (and returning) members to its Board of Directors. We are actively seeking candidates who bring diverse perspectives, with a particular emphasis on gender diversity and individuals who self-identify as members of underrepresented groups (e.g., racialized communities, LGBTQIA2S+ individuals, persons with disabilities). Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
All applicants will be evaluated through a standardized Skills Matrix to ensure a well-rounded and effective Board composition.
Athletes Representative
CEC is proud to currently have three athletes serving on its Board of Directors: one member at-large and two co-chairs of the Athletes’ Commission. One of the co-chair positions is up for election each year. This year, we are seeking nominations from a female athlete interested in serving as a director and representing the voice of athletes at the board level.
The Athletes’ Commission will oversee the nomination and election process for the Athletes’ Representative. More information on the process will be shared shortly.
Slate & Elections
The CEC Board Nominations Committee will be reviewing the applications and making recommendations to the Board. The Board will put forward the names of the recommended director nominees to the CEC’s voting Members. The CEC’s voting Members will elect individuals to the CEC Board at the CEC’s Annual General Meeting, which will be held virtually on September 23, 2025.
